I can’t even snark on this episode because I love it so much. It has all my favorite things: clones, evil children, lady mad scientists, and old educational/training films.
Mulder is really hung up on aliens. The initial case here involves men getting all the blood sucked out of their bodies, and his first theory is aliens. Excuse me, Mulder, but have you forgotten about a little thing called vampires?

As a point of continuity, at this early point, vampires are in fact the one thing Mulder does not believe in. Seriously. During the first vampire episode he says that they were the one thing he didn’t believe in.
I ‘specially like your compression of the whole “poisoned sodas” sequence so that Mulder and Scully are actually chugging their drinks while standing over Eve’s corpse….

The episode never explains how the girls manage such perfect exsanguinations. Sulk.
The episode sets up some other vampire-like stuff, such as the locked-up crazy clone lady being afraid of light, but nobody ever says anything about it.
In this episode, Scully is oddly resistant to the idea that it’s worth driving a few minutes to check out a report that a woman who looks like the woman who kidnapped the kids showed up with a young girl shortly after the kidnapping occurred after being gone all night.
It occurred to me that the creator of Breaking Bad actually was a writer on the X-Files (he met Breaking Bad’s lead actor during the episode ‘Drive’, one of Jeffrey Wells’s favorites), but I checked and he didn’t write this episode. So the digitalis thing is probably either a coincidence or ALIENS.
