Am I the only one who noticed how similar the monster of the week was to the psirens from red dwarf?

I can’t even remember if I saw the movie, but I’m now imagining Mulder and Scully having maybe two scenes together, and the rest of the time it’s all separate stuff recorded weeks apart while the other was doing All Souls/Folie a Deux.

Regarding the comic, I appreciate Scully’s collection of VHSes in panel 7. The only one of those movies I’ve seen is Titanic, but hopefully, a few years later, Scully would add ‘Josie & the Pussycats’ to her collection — I’m going to rewatch that movie next week with some friends.

Season 5 episodes are mostly shot really well — it’s a lot more cinematic compared to earlier seasons. This episode looks great.

There are a couple of early ‘why doesn’t everyone just listen to Scully’ moments which I quite enjoyed, though it was a bit undercut by the inevitable ‘why doesn’t Scully just listen to Mulder’ moment later on. One little moment I appreciated at the end was after Scully busts in and shoots the giant blurry bug monster, which flees out of the window, and Mulder just looks and Scully and raises one eyebrow. Good stuff! I also liked when Mulder went into the shooter’s house and found an identical map-and-string murderboard to the one that he had set up in his office.

This was such a great episode! I loved both parts (the hostage situation and the bug monsters) so much.
