Incidentally, the part where Mulder is in the middle of writing something on his computer, and then when he decides he’s not going to write it after all he just powers off the computer without shutting down first, hurt my little tech support soul. (But maybe he was just turning off the monitor.)

This episode has pretty massive implications for the X-Files universe in general, all the stranger that it comes across as a bit of non-canonical fluff.

I appreciate that the actual plot of this episode is summed up in the first two panels. I haven’t seen S07E22 yet so I’m curious as to how all of Shaeonon’s foreshadowing plays out.

I’m not sure how much of ‘genies taking wishes extremely literally’ thing is from mythology and how much is cribbed from the Golem and the Monkey’s Paw. That one guy wishing his brother back from the dead is kind of the Monkey’s Paw played for laughs.

Scully is sidelined for a lot of this episode, and I think it’s significant that, once she is in a position to advise Mulder on what he should wish for, she tells him to knock it off. Which he does. And then he makes her watch Caddyshack.
