No, it’s not Matthew McConaghey. It’s Brad Dourif, who also starred in “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest” and “The lord of the rings”, as Grima Wormtongue.

I think Beyond the Sea is one of the ones where Scully hits the reset button at the end and decides it was all bunk, and instantly, Mulder, who has spent the whole episode disbelieving, is all, “But Scully, why don’t you believe?”

I was dubious about that too, but then thought “OK, dead dad, manipulative serial killer, plot demanding role reversal with Mulder. She’s allowed an off day.”

DO NOT IMITATE THAT LOOK. Red, however, might be nice
Also, I don’t recall ever seeing Brad Dourif play a non-creepy person. I think the spooky eyes have typecast him. I’d love to see a “spooky-eyed act-off” with him, Steve Buscemi, Christopher Walken and Eric Roberts.

And the creepy psychic inmate guy has to be Matthew McConaughey. I know the hair is a little dark for him, but one mustn’t “unnerestimate” the drawl.
