Part of the creepy factor that went up for me after reading the cast on Wikipedia was who played the teacher.

The scene where we meet her, and then the cut up magazine are jokes I missed as a teenager, and took the magazine to just be another jib of Scully at Mulder’s vices.

When Shaenon discussed this episode a few years ago, she described Ribisi as “an amazing actor in any role you care to give him but especially if it’s someone who’s kind of a dick.”
