Yeah, and how Susan doesn’t go to heaven because she noticed boys exist. It reminds me of the sequel to “the Princess and the Goblin”, which runs off the rails in Fundie territory and turns into a bad “A Pilgrims Progress” fanfic.

I like to pretend neither exist.

Wrinkle in Time is pretty darn creepy, as is Struwwelpeter, but for my money it’s actually Peter Pan. Seriously.

That sounds weirdly plausible

My new theory is that Mulder never HAD a sister- the whole thing is down to a very successful bit of brainwashing.

I always thought A Wrinkle in Time was creepier than Alice in Wonderland. I don’t know if it’s the creepiest children’s book, but certainly creepier than that.

I nominate Yurtle the Turtle. Not creepy until you realize its actually about Hitler.

Also, the Elf on the Shelf book.

My nominee is The Chronicles of Narnia. We read those books in my Catholic grade school, and the idea that the children die in a train crash at the end of book 7, and they’re all “Yay! We get to be dead now!” is creepy beyond words. Thanks for the great role models, Sister Florence.
